thats fab!!!
could you help me with it?
im 21, bit older than you and cant do my job (which is singer/dancer) cos of the amount of tablets i need for pain.
I did call up the benefits people about it, but they put me on ESA (incapacity) for the time being, my doc hs signed me off work, but i still feel that i would be better being on dla
for a start, the ESA benefit hardly gives me any moeny and im supposed to lie off £50 a week?
i know i have very severe symptons, would i need to go through this with a consultant? help!!! _________________ Bryony xx |

I am on ESA too, if you get the forms from your local job centre office take it to ither your main doctor or consultant the help fill it out and file for it, you should be eligable, it could be a long fight but i got mine without arguement.
good luck

you can have ESA AND DLA.
both can be a fight- the ESA is usually not so tough to get if you know how to answer the form fully so that they can't fool you but the DLA is very difficult to get even the first time round, I would suggest contacting the CAB for help with both. |

brilliant, thanku tessa and laura!! didnt know that, but will definitely apply for both.
i seemed to get given ESA pretty easily, unfortunately its just not enough money to live on really!! I did read somewhere on a leaflet that I'd need to have an examination.
But I'll def pp into the CAB this week about DLA, i know that form the symptons i experience that I should be eligible - above all else. its not safe for me to work when im on morphine and dihydrocodeine, and unfortunately no other pain killer seems to do anything!!
It just seems unfair when the questions are aimed at someone with a physical impairment, when our symptons come and go an vary in severity... Also, the questions ive seen are asking if i need assistance (and I dont want anyone to think i need a carer, as I can do most things most of the time?) Do you know what i mean?
fingers crossed. _________________ Bryony xx |

ahhh this is where they want to catch you out.
If you tell them that you dont need a carer and you can look after yourself they wont see you as a high need assessment.
They would probably see you as self caring and most people like them dont get diddly squat from DLA which is very wrong.
When I first answered the DLA form and was morphined out of my skull one of the first questions I answered (very stupidly) was that I didnt need a carer.
What I hadnt realised at the time was that my husband was my carer and I thought they meant outside help and had no grasp of what the answer could do to my application.
They say you shouldnt apply the form on one of your worst days but if your worst days are more frequent than your good ones then it stands to reason that you should apply the worst day as a normal day because there are no normal days just continuous days of hell if you understand me .......
They dont see people who can care for themselves in pain as disabled if they can get about without help.......talk about biast or what
you will need to qualify for at least three elements to qualify for DLA
I seriously suggest that you should take a look through the Disability and Benefits section I made at the top.
It might be able to answer all your questions
yes they do seem to aim for the physically disabled people, but my fantastic CAB rep put this point across when I had to appeal (for the third time) and went to tribunal..... |
