Ok, so where do I start??
I started my periods at 13 and they were horrendous! Heavy bleeding and massive amounts of pain, which as far as my mum was concerned is so not normal!! After my second period she took me to the doctors and I was given Mefenamic Acid and told to use a hot water bottle. My mum was great; she bought me every product for period pain that came out! Magnets, tablets, I even went to a homeopathic clinic and nothing worked!
Then when I was 19 I collapsed with a severe stabbing pain in my abdomen. After being rushed to A&E I was diagnosed with a burst cyst and given an internal scan. The nurse asked me to sit outside while she spoke to a doctor, then asked me to join them. They explained to me what endo was and told me that they thought I had it. I was referred to an endo specialist who decided to do a lap.
Fifteen months later I finally had my lap and the consultant decided that I didn't have endo and basically told me that I was making the pain up!!!!
Fast forward about a year and I couldn't take the pain anymore, I went to my GP and asked him to refer me to a Gynae specialist. At the Gynae clinic they decided that because the specialist said it wasn't endo there was no way it could possibly be that! So they decided on Pelvic Venous Congestion, they tried me on all of the medications they could think of (Depo Provera, Combined Pill, Zoladex, Mirena, to name but a few). After years of none of them working they decided that I should have another lap.
On 09/11/09 I went in for my second Lap, the consultant was very honest about the fact that they didn't think they would find anything! Six Hours later I finally come round to be told that they had found (exact words) "extensive and deep-seated endometriosis, adhesions and cysts”. Gggggggrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!! I suppose I should be grateful that I now know what’s going on, but I'm so angry!
I had an appt with my consultant again today, he has now told me (because it obviously wasn't important at the time) that they couldn't laser it all as it is wrapped around my bowels and he can't get to it! Then to make matters worse he tells me that apart from Laparoscopies, every 6-8 months there is nothing else he can do for me!!! So he gets to give up on me! How is that fair??? I want to give up but I don't get to so why should he be allowed to? As for pain relief he just wants to leave me on Co-codamol, have been tried on Tramadol, Gabapentin, and others but they all affect me really badly!
I just want it all to stop sometimes, even for just a day would be good!
