I have always had endometriosis since I was about 21 and had a miscarriage.

At 26 I had a hotel hysterectomy; my ovaries were so scarred that they were both removed. I have suffered with pain all my life, in and out of hospital for various medical procedures.

At 55 whilst I was having the adhesions removed laparoscopically, my bowel wall collapsed and I ended up having major surgery, and I recovered.

Last year I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, after having entire surgery, removal of part of my bladder, a temporary stoma and a huge amount of intestine removed etc, I was told it was endometriosis... I wasn’t sure where to laugh or cry with relief.

Six months on I’m still recovering from the surgery with various complications; it’s very very difficult!

Update January 2010

Since may 2009 I’ve been housebound, since the bowel cancer surgery, my bladder has been overactive (they tell me) and I have to undergo a test to find out what is the cause of this. They think its damaged nerves from the surgery, in which case I will have Botox injections which only last 6-8 months; after that I don’t know. This is an expensive procedure I would think. Anyone who has any info for me on this it would be appreciated.

I’m also having problems with the bowel after the surgery; it’s been since months since the last operation to take away the stoma. I would so like to be normal again and wonder if and when this will happen.

Adele.
