Hello
I am wondering if anyone can help. I have been told be as doctor recently he thinks I have ovarian cysts, however I am sure there is more to it. From a young age I suffered migraines until my periods started then they stopped once my periods started. I also noticed when I was younger pain during what would have been ovulation, I then was on the pill for a number of years and began to suffer from migraine attacks so changed to a different pill, the pill I am on now does not give me periods.
However recently I have been experiencing a sharp stabbing pain in my lower right stomach, a painful back, I have had brown discharge recently but I was not sure if this was a symptom of the pill I was on.
I go to the toilet frequently and always have, and of late it has been stingy to go so I got antibiotics for a bladder infection although my test results came back clear. I have been tested for STDs all of which are clear. I have had in general a dull pain around my pelvic area with swollen glands for some time now, and bleeding from my back passage on occasion. All Of these lead me to believe I may and endometriosis, but I'm not sure.
I would appreciate some feedback I am 22 years of age.
Thank you
Update January 2012
I went to the doc and she diagnoses me with PID...I spoke to a woman at my work who has endo and she thinks my symptoms sound similar to hears and is saying I should go see a gyno.
Update January 2012 #2
Just a wee update I was at an exercise class recently and experienced terrible pain in my lower back that went shooting through to my womb or so what it felt like anyway, and then I experienced slight swelling of my right hand tummy where I had been getting sharp pains the week previous. This really was the final straw! I phoned the doctors in the morning and made an appointment with a female doctor, she saw me and I said I wanted a scan to be done.
I have been back and forth now and I said I have private health care with my work and I would like it seen to. She agreed and also said I should get blood tests done aswell. I feel like she listened and understood where I was coming from. I asked if it could be endo and she said there is a possibility, but we will see what the scans come back saying and take it from there.
Update April 2012
Another update - I have now been referred to gynocologist, got an internal scan nothing to be seen abnormal, I have been advised I can get an internal operation laparoscopy to check out my insides.....
In the mean time, I've also had a smear done which came back with abnormal cells and got referred to have a Colposcopy I am awaiting results of this!
Update May 2012
I have now been in for my lap which Gynae recommended and she confirmed I have endo - which is on my uterus, bladder and right ovary.
I am glad in a way they found something and I can put the pain down to something as it was driving me mad not knowing and I can now Learn to cope and deal with it.
I just want to say if it had not been for the woman at my work telling me all her symptoms and mine being the same and her telling me to pursue it I don't think I would have.
It's so important if you think you are experiencing pain that's not normal and if you think there may be any chance you have endo go and see your doc. I persisted with them numerous times to the point where I was crying on the phone to the doc because I was in such pain - they referred me to Gynae - at this point I had already had my scan and no cysts were present. But in this case it just goes to show you don't have to have cysts in order to have endo - I believe I did have one small one this past year as I was in such pain (stabbing like feeling on right hand side) and then bled a small amount a day after. But apart from that, none, so even if you have a scan and it doesn't show up anything and you’re still in pain, don't just leave it.
I am glad to have been told quite young and not have left it for years. My Gynae/ surgeon said I do have quite a bit but it's manageable at this point and I have a follow up appointment in June - where she said we can get rid of what is there or I will be put on the pill to stop the endo spreading even more.
I don't like operations or being out to sleep - but yesterday the nurses were so kind and I'm glad I've had it done. I am in slight discomfort but it’s definitely put my mind at ease and assured me it wasn't just in my head/maybe am being stupid.
