an i get any benifit

i have a job and they are being really good i was off for a few weeks in feb then in march got rushed in to hospital for emergency surgery on my bowel that resulted in colostomy. i went back after 4 months and i have been off again now for 6 weeks due to severe pain and awaiting more surgery (hysterectomy)which will result in me being off for another 4 months min i am getting sick pay and work are keeping my job open my partner works but i am only gettin a quarter off my monthly wage is there a beneift i can get that will top up my wages.

hi there - sorry to hear about the colostomy - do you have a bag ? if so i think that automatically means you can get disability living allowance - if you ask tessa - she has been thru all that and she would know more than me about it - but am pretty sure in one of her posts she said if you have a colostmy bag then you can get it.......

yes i do have a bag but only a tempory one, where do i find tessa sounds like she might be able to help me thank you xx

It doesn't matter if it's a temporary colostomy- all the time you are using a colostomy bag you are classed as disabled because the law states that people with ileostomys qualify for DLA for certain reasons.
I will find out more about that for you.

I have been signed off since May last year and am currently still in the employment book.
I was awarded DLA in backdated payments for that June/July time too.
DLA is not means tested, so it doesnt matter if your partner works.
My hubby does night shifts so he can work whilst I am resting (or trying to at least lol!).
